The City of Plantation visionary, Frederick Peters donated 300 acres to create a golf course and he hired Red Lawrence to design Plantation Golf Club which opened in 1950.
Plantation Golf Club closed in 1998.
Plantation Golf Club was abandoned until 2001, when the City of Plantation purchased the property and hired the firm of von Hagge, Smelek and Baril to redesign the new Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club which opened in February, 2006.
