Porter-Wagor-Russell, Inc. hired Dick Wilson to design the Palmetto Country Club golf course and construction began in February, 1960. Palmetto Country Club opened in December, 1960 with a layout of 18 holes, par 71, 6656 yards.
Dade County purchased the golf course in 1967, and renamed it the Palmetto Golf Course.
Not much has changed as the current layout is 18 holes, par 70, 6648 yards.
An 18-hole Mini-Golf Course is on site.
